Villa Chevalier is on the only island near Fethiye which has settlements on it. This narrow plot is situated on the ridge of the island and has a stunning view of the sea on both sides. This vista forged the main design principle of the villa. Though not having a traditional architecture the building regulations of the island were very restrictive for the materials that can be used and a maximum of 50% was allowed for openings on any facade. These were the major handicaps when trying to maintain a see-through effect. The transparency effect is achieved by dividing and shifting the mass into two major parts. The shifted levels provided a sea view and thus a see-through effect from every level.
